What Is TOOLS [th]at WORK?
TOOLS [th]at WORK is a regional branding campaign that focuses on youth in school and/or in transition to work or post-secondary education. Working in partnership with the regional Passport to Prosperity committee, Crescive Corporation provides a host of services under one umbrella to assist youth entering the skilled trades sector of the workforce. Over the past two years, the regional Passport to Prosperity committee has worked on this initiative with the aim to provide a positive means of marketing and communicating the variety of school-to-work programs to educators, students, parents and employers. The tool sign brand is two-fold with a play on words:

  • Tools THAT Work – are the programs and services provided to students and youth in preparation for the skills & trades sector either through academics, experiential learning or training.
  • Tools AT Work – are the students/youth in the work place utilizing the skills and knowledge gathered at school, coop or in training.

How can TOOLS [th]at WORK help you?

As a youth and job seeker, you can use this site to access the tools and resources you need to find out about in-school and apprenticeship work experience opportunities while you're exploring your career options. The site's resources will also provide employers with the tools needed to work with educators, to find an ideal employee match and to address your future workplace needs. As a parent, you can source out information that will broaden your understanding of today's practical career options for your children including the skilled trades. As an educator, this site will provide you with a series of online resources to improve efficiency and ease reporting requirements.

Why choose the skilled trade pathway?

Skilled trades offer more choices than ever for a rewarding, challenging and secure career. We have the tools to help you make the right choice for your future.

Why do we need a TOOLS [th]at WORK campaign?

Skilled trades play an important role in Northwestern Ontario’s economy.

Addressing the predicted skilled trades deficit in the region is not exclusively the responsibility of educators. Employers and parents also have a important role to play in producing an effective and skilled workforce for region.

The high school system provides the access to the regions future talent pool...it is critical that business (small and medium-sized enterprise and industry) help guide educators to produce and improve student prospects in the work world. Parents, as role models, need to recognize the learning styles and abilities of their children at an earlier age to help them explore all post-secondary opportunities...work, apprenticeship, college or university to achieve success.
